There is so much to experience in the surrounding streets and harbourside areas of this maritime, cultural district of town we find ourselves in. Where are we, you may ask? Copenhagen’s district of Christianshavn, of course!
We set our gaze on our destination across the bustling Copenhagen Harbour, starting from Nyhavn. In the distance, modern residential buildings are poetically intertwined with structures hundreds of years old but haven’t lost a day of their character. Crooked buildings, spacious balconies, slanted roofs, and cheerful colours greet us as we step off the bridge connecting the inner city with Christianshavn. It’s time to uncover all Cultural Christianshavn has to offer, and we’ll take the least uneven streets the district has to offer. We promise there’s something for everyone!
From fascinating history to favourite boardwalk hangouts locals love to lounge on, we’ll indulge you in the ins and outs of this former city-turned-district. There’ll be stories of an old woman’s prison, interesting architecture, local artists, and famous restaurants that together make Christianshavn a cultural maritime district of Copenhagen.
Before we let you go, we’ll make sure we see the Church of Our Saviour and its spiralling tower from up close and introduce you to the Freetown of Christiania. After this introduction on Christiania’s doorstep, you’re free to enter inside and explore it on your own. From maritime to cultural and everything in between, this is Christianshavn!

Please be at the departure point, Next to the Memorial Anchor (Mindeankeret), Nyhavn 1F, in front of the canal boat tours – located in the City Centre, 10 minutes early to check in for your tour.

If you have trouble locating the guide or the meeting point, please give us a call a few minutes before the start of the tour. When you call before the tour begins, we have a greater chance of helping you find your way.

This tour ends outside the entrance to Christiania – it does not go inside (only Christiania’s own guides are allowed to guide inside). Guests are welcome to continue into Christiania after the tour on their own (it is approx. a 15 min walk back to Nyhavn).
