Royal Oslo

Indulge yourself in a day of regal bliss at Oslo’s many royal sites! Don your nicest frock and walk in the footsteps of Norwegian royalty at Akershus Fortress, Oslo Cathedral and the Royal Palace. You’re in for a treat!

Om turen

Hear ye, hear ye, welcome to the Kingdom of Norway! We hope you’re prepared for all things Royal Oslo because we have a magnificent experience in store for you. From Viking kings to modern-day royalty, put on your smartest frock or gown and be swept away by the grandeur of royalty found all across Oslo.

Taking our royal chariot (aka tram) east, we arrive back in time to the early days of Oslo. We’ll bow to Harald III, the last Viking King and founder of Oslo and walk through the ruins of the Old Town. Along the way, we’ll recount the city’s glory days and the fire that destroyed most of it (ever wonder why The Royal Palace and city centre are located on either side of Oslo?).

From ruins to Renaissance, we board the tram again and travel forward through time, greeting the Oslo Cathedral as we step off into a new era. The host of Royal weddings, the Oslo Cathedral is a place of possibility. It’s where a commoner became a Crown Princess in 2001. Floating down the street like dignitaries on a red carpet, we approach Akershus Fortress. We’ll roam the grounds, saluting the fortresses over 700-year history of sieges, festivities, royal residence, and place of power. Continuing our regal theme, we bid adieu to Akershus Fortress in search of modern-day royals.

Learn about Norwegian theatrical ”royalty” at The National Theatre and discover the man behind the main pedestrian street in Oslo on our procession toward our final destination, the home of the King and Queen of Norway, The Royal Palace. Let us introduce the Queen’s artistry and the King’s sportiness on the world stage as we stroll through the grounds. Once back at the top of the hill, from Harald to Harald, Viking ruler to the contemporary monarch, we’ve now seen all things stately, majestic, and noble. This is a Royal Oslo Private Walking Tour, after all.

Happy Nobel Day! 💡 As Nobel Week was cancelled in 2020, Nobel lectures, prizes and banquets were replaced with Nobel Week Lights - light installations inspired by Nobel Prize-awarded findings and laureates. As the festivities are now back, we sure hope that we are so lucky that the artwork brightening up the city during the darkest month of the year; is a December tradition that has come to stay. 💫

🇸🇪

It’s a contested issue amongst numerous Baltic connected countries as to who invented the Ice-skate. Was it the Finns or the Dutch? All of this is irrelevant because the best city to ice-skate in is Stockholm. If you want to show off your Quadruple Axel in front of the masses, the ice-rink in Kungsträdgården is the perfect location. ✨⛸️✨

Don't let its controversy cloud your curiosity as Christianshavns characteristic slanting roofs and canals, as well as the tremendous Church of Our Saviour, are well worth seeing. Not to forget the Færgecafé or Café Parterre who are both worth visiting.
