Djurgården's Green Treasures

Heard that Royal Djurgården is a must? It is! From hunting grounds to a theme park to a recreational area, we promise there’s more than meets the eye. Discover the island on our Djurgården’s Green Treasures Private Walking Tour.

The story about the tour

From royal hunting grounds to a favourite recreational spot amongst the locals. Lush, green walkways, museums in the plenty, private mansions and riveting tales of the past. Come stroll with us through the island of Djurgården; it is truly something else! It’s a place of green treasures. In fact, why don’t we name the tour just that: Djurgården’s Green Treasures Private Walking Tour.

Starting out by the local visitor centre, we begin with a must, the Vasa Museum and the story of why she sank. The park across from the Nordic Museum tells tales of how royalty once entertained, and Djurgårdsstaden keeps the secrets of sailors and gravediggers. Towards the end, there’s Rosendal’s Trädgård, a green oasis not to be missed. Want more? How about a palace, open-air museum and art galleries – Djurgården has it all.

As our Djurgården’s Green Treasures Private Walking Tour comes to an end, you’ll have gained insight into an area that most visitors see from the inside out (from the many museums that is). Leave the green heart of Stockholm with a feeling of having been let in on a secret and amazement. Who knew that a green area of this size could be such a historical treasure trove? What did we tell you – Djurgården truly is filled with treasures!

Happy Nobel Day! 💡 As Nobel Week was cancelled in 2020, Nobel lectures, prizes and banquets were replaced with Nobel Week Lights - light installations inspired by Nobel Prize-awarded findings and laureates. As the festivities are now back, we sure hope that we are so lucky that the artwork brightening up the city during the darkest month of the year; is a December tradition that has come to stay. 💫

🇸🇪

It’s a contested issue amongst numerous Baltic connected countries as to who invented the Ice-skate. Was it the Finns or the Dutch? All of this is irrelevant because the best city to ice-skate in is Stockholm. If you want to show off your Quadruple Axel in front of the masses, the ice-rink in Kungsträdgården is the perfect location. ✨⛸️✨

Don't let its controversy cloud your curiosity as Christianshavns characteristic slanting roofs and canals, as well as the tremendous Church of Our Saviour, are well worth seeing. Not to forget the Færgecafé or Café Parterre who are both worth visiting.
