From new apartment buildings and world-renowned museums built alongside the Oslo Fjord to a medieval hilltop fortress and other structures of historical importance – the variety of architecture in Oslo is not to be missed! Each neighbourhood showcases something different, and the mix of architectural styles makes Oslo the fascinating city we see today.
On our Oslo’s Amazing Architecture Private Driving Tour, we’ll make the most of your personal driver and guide and start by exploring areas located on the outskirt of the city centre. There’s Grünerløkka, a former industrial area with factories from the 1800s; Oslo East, with its more traditional Scandinavian buildings; Oslo West, with its stately apartment buildings and Holmenkollen, the famous ski jump, proudly overlooking the city centre, to name but a few.
Working our way towards the city centre, here we’ll get a feel for modern Oslo. The more recently constructed Aker Brygge & Tjuvholmen and Bjørvika areas perfectly show how new contemporary buildings can immodestly interweave with old architecture.
Together we’ll plunge into the architectural past of the Norwegian capital and uncover a superb selection of old and new buildings that make Oslo what it is; a beautiful Nordic metropolis with a rich history and grand ambitions.
