Royal Oslo - Private Driving Tour

Crowns on, royal wave at the ready, your carriage awaits! Treat yourself to a day as the royalty you are. Let us escort you from ruin to palace to fortress on our Royal Oslo Private Driving Tour, Oslo’s most regal experience.

The story about the tour

Hop aboard your very own royal carriage (aka vehicle) and set off on the most regal experience in Oslo! Our day of grandeur starts by driving to the city’s east side, arriving centuries back in time to the early days of the capital. We’ll bow to the founder of Oslo and walk between the ruins of the Old Town to stories of the glory days of Oslo and the fire that destroyed most of the city.

Back aboard our royal carriage, we’ll drive forward in time, from ruins to the Renaissance, as we arrive back in the heart of the city centre, greeting the Oslo Cathedral. Hosting Royal weddings, the Oslo Cathedral is where a commoner became a Crown Princess in 2001 when she married the Crown Prince of Norway. Around the corner, we’ll roll out the red carpet as we enter Akershus Fortress, where we’ll wander the grounds. Enough of the past and on to the present; it’s time to search for modern royals.

We begin our search on the Bygdøy peninsula, home to many museums and royal resting spots such as the Royal Summer Residence, Royal Manor and Oscarshall. Once a palace, now a museum, Oscarshall is one of Norway’s finest examples of Neo-Gothic architecture, not to mention a beautiful spot to stretch our legs, so we’ll do just that. We’ll enjoy the fresh air and some free time for a coffee (and hopefully some sunshine too!). If we didn’t find modern royalty out on Bygdøy, the next place to look for them is… you guessed it, the Royal Palace. Our visit entails the Palace exterior and a stroll through the grounds while listening to stories about the Queen, the King, and the royalty represented by statues in the gardens.

Ending at your own palace (aka hotel or cruise ship), we’ve now seen all things grand, noble, and regal in Oslo. It’s not for nothing; we call this majestic experience our Royal Oslo Private Driving Tour.

Happy Nobel Day! 💡 As Nobel Week was cancelled in 2020, Nobel lectures, prizes and banquets were replaced with Nobel Week Lights - light installations inspired by Nobel Prize-awarded findings and laureates. As the festivities are now back, we sure hope that we are so lucky that the artwork brightening up the city during the darkest month of the year; is a December tradition that has come to stay. 💫

🇸🇪

It’s a contested issue amongst numerous Baltic connected countries as to who invented the Ice-skate. Was it the Finns or the Dutch? All of this is irrelevant because the best city to ice-skate in is Stockholm. If you want to show off your Quadruple Axel in front of the masses, the ice-rink in Kungsträdgården is the perfect location. ✨⛸️✨

Don't let its controversy cloud your curiosity as Christianshavns characteristic slanting roofs and canals, as well as the tremendous Church of Our Saviour, are well worth seeing. Not to forget the Færgecafé or Café Parterre who are both worth visiting.
