Put your seatbelt on and hit the road! You are about to discover Stockholm on wheels with your own personal driver and guide. Zooming through the city, see the colourful, vibrant city districts that make Stockholm the Capital of Scandinavia (at least to us in Sweden!).
Norrmalm is the heart of the city; it’s the focal point of modern Stockholm with great shopping streets like Drottninggatan (The Queen’s Street), squares such as Hörtoget (The Haymarket) where the Stockholm Concert Hall is located (did someone say Nobel Prize Ceremony?) When the style of the architecture changes, you’re passing by Gamla stan, the Old Town. Leaning buildings, narrow alleyways, and the Royal Palace are all points to check off your bucket list.
Over a bridge we go, bringing us to the city’s trendy and bohemian area (not to mention island!). Södermalm offers small wooden houses from the 1700s, fashion, design and great local bars. Not to forget – stunning views of the city! Across Lake Mälaren, you’ll catch a spectacular view of Stockholm City Hall on the island of Kungsholmen.
The opposite of the hipster island you just left is Östermalm, the fashionable neighbourhood with stately apartment buildings, fantastic architecture and scenic walkways. The posh boulevard Strandvägen will lead us directly to our last city district. Djurgården, the leisure paradise of the city, is best known as the outdoor recreation centre for city locals. The main street is lined with many of Stockholm’s museums: the Vasa Museum, the open-air museum of Skansen, and ABBA the Museum, to name but a few.
Stockholm on wheels is perfect if you want to see a lot in a short amount of time or if you just prefer to dress in high heels. By the end, you’ll be a city expert!
