If you’re looking for a quick, all-encompassing introduction to Stockholm (which we in Sweden call the “Capital of Scandinavia”), then this tour is for you! Driving less than an hour north from the port of Nynäshamn, your private driver and guide will be your cicerone, presenting all Stockholm has to offer. Strap on your three-pointed seatbelt (a Swedish invention), and we’re off!
Starting with the city’s core, the district of Norrmalm is the modern part of Stockholm. Here, the H&M Groups’ stores blossom beside important sights like the Stockholm Concert Hall and Drottninggatan, the main pedestrian shopping street. Notice how the buildings are getting older, and older, and older…? We’re passing the Stockholm Old Town, with its medieval buildings, the grand Royal Palace, and the powerhouse of the country, Parliament.
From ancient to bohemian, it’s time to head to the island of Södermalm. Known as the hipster Mecca, it’s crawling with designer stores, local bars, and trendy people. Being located in the heights, we get a fantastic view of the city, including those of the Stockholm harbour, Lake Mälaren and the island of Kungsholmen, home to Stockholm City Hall.
From heights and hipsters to posh and exclusive, next up is Östermalm. Filled with luxurious apartments and GUCCI-stores, it’s the home to the Royal Dramatic Theatre and the boulevard Strandvägen that leads us to the outdoor recreation island of Djurgården. Once a royal hunting ground, today it is a park known as the museum island of Stockholm. This is where you find attractions like the Vasa Museum, ABBA, the Museum and art galleries galore.
When we have seen everything there is to see, we’ll drop you off back in Nynäshamn. There it is, Stockholm On Wheels, all the way from Nynäshamn!
