Sightseeing out of the ordinary: The Cisterns

September 29, 2016 • 1 min read

At first sight it might look like just another tunnel or abandoned spot somewhere in the world. But when you take a closer look, you’ll see that The Cisterns (Cisternerne) in Copenhagen, is a unique exhibition space.

The cistern is nothing less than a former water reservoir, located on under the park Søndermarken in Frederiksberg. Today it’s used as a unique exhibition space, and one that separates itself from others above ground: daylight never reaches the facility, and the atmosphere and looks takes you back to old catacombs.

The cisterns are open Tuesday to Sunday between 11.00 – 17.00. The entrance fee is DKK 50 for adults, children under 18 years go for free.
