The tour starts with you being picked up in an accessible van, complete with a ramp making it possible to stay seated in a wheelchair or scooter as we travel through the inner city of Copenhagen. All buckled up; we’ll hit the road for a leisurely adventure answering questions such as, what does Hygge really mean? Where did Hans Christian Andersen, one of Denmark’s most loveable fairytale authors, live? What is that building across the water? It’s no secret that Copenhagen is home to some of the most elegant new architectural treasures in the world; there’s the Copenhagen Opera House, The Black Diamond and the Axel Towers, to name but a few.
Having covered extensive grounds, it’s now time for our visit to Denmark’s centre of power. Home to both royalty and politicians alike, Christiansborg Palace is where we find the Queen’s Royal Reception Rooms and the seat of the Danish Parliament. The present palace was completed in 1928 and is the fifth of its kind. From the beautiful Palace Library and the Great Hall to the Velvet Room and the Throne Room, the palace holds richness like you have never seen before. A highlight, you ask? The Queen’s Tapestries! The palace is like an art collection, one that you definitely want to see!
