This adventure walks us through Oslo city centre and aboard a sightseeing boat for a cruise of the Oslo fjord. Enjoy the stunning view of the Norwegian capital and its shore on our Oslo from Coastline to City Private Walking Tour.
The story about the tour
One of the best things about Oslo is that it sits along the water, making it very easy to provide an experience known as “from coastline to city”. From Viking settlement to new constructions, this once coastal town has flourished into a beautiful Scandinavian city (and it continues getting better!). Come see how Oslo has grown, always within close reach of the water (and if not water, then forest) on this private walking tour that culminates with a sightseeing boat tour.
Starting out from the Nobel Peace Center, just a stone’s throw from the cruise ports, we’ll journey up into the impressive Akershus Fortress, which has been guarding Oslo and her coast for centuries. Out of the fortress and walking down the inner-city streets, it’s not long before you reach water again. In the distance, a building rises out of the water in the fashion of an iceberg (or at least it looks that way!). It’s the Oslo Opera House, and after a short walk around the harbour, we’re standing on top of its roof! Back down to reality (or ground level), it’s time to stroll along the main shopping street, Karl Johans gate, say hello to Oslo’s tiger and tip our hats toward the Royal Palace and Norwegian Parliament. Rounding the corner, we’ll greet the Oslo City Hall, home to the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony, before hopping aboard a boat for a sightseeing tour of Oslo’s fjord.
Having seen the city centre of Oslo up close, we’ll take to the water for some stunning views of sites we have and have not seen. There’s the Bygdøy peninsula which holds many of the city’s museums. You’ll not be able to miss the Fram Museum, home to the first Norwegian polar expedition ship. Outside the city, there are islands known to be favourite spots for picnics and swimming amongst the locals. To round it off, we’ll also see the sleek modern architecture of the city centre from afar.
When you’ve heard the city’s many tales and seen the sites from the water, we arrive back from our boat ride to where we began. Your adventure Oslo from Coastline to City Private Walking Tour is complete.
