Amalienborg, Christiansborg, Rosenborg, so many “borgs” to see! Experience Copenhagen’s royal sights on our Royal Copenhagen Private Driving Tour. As the world’s oldest monarchy, there are plenty of stories to entertain!
The story about the tour
From former home to office to summer residence turned museum, we’ll check out where the royals of past and present have wined and dined, worked and lived through the centuries. What’s the story behind the highly approved Royal Family? Where do the Danish Royals live today? Come find out as we drive through the city, discovering what’s royal in Copenhagen!
Our scenic sightseeing drive will take us from one royal hot spot to the next. From the balcony of Christiansborg Palace, Crown Princess Margarethe was proclaimed Queen of Denmark. Inside many of the rooms, politicians of the Danish Parliament are busy at work, and visitors are marvelling at the splendours of the elegant Royal Reception Rooms.
Continuing to the smallest palace in the city, Rosenborg Castle was built as a summer residence in the countryside. The opulent interiors of this Renaissance castle are protected by the Royal Guard, as the Treasury is also found here. Stepping outside to the surrounding castle grounds, enjoy the green oasis that many locals like to picnic in, The King’s Garden.
Going from one palace to the next, we’ll sweep through the inner city, also known as Indre By. Copenhagen is filled with royal representation and references. This Royal Copenhagen Private Driving Tour wouldn’t be complete without waving hello to Amalienborg Palace, home of the Queen herself and the Crown Prince family. We’ll also poke our heads into The Copenhagen Cathedral, wherein in 2004, the Crown Prince said “I do” and married a commoner who became the Crown Princess. This isn’t a fairytale; it’s Royal Copenhagen!
