If you are planning a vacation for December, you have to experience what Christmas in Stockholm is like. It’s magical!
Forget about the turkey; during Christmas in Sweden, it’s all about the julskinka, or Christmas ham. There are also traditions of advent candelabras, Christmas stars, Lucia Day celebrations and kids having a hard time sleeping whilst waiting for Santa, or as we say in Sweden: Tomten. Christmas markets dot the city map, one of which is located right here in the Old Town, on the main square, Stortorget. Though our stop will be short, we definitely recommend coming back after the tour to take a look around and perhaps do some Christmas gift shopping!
