During nine days, more precisely between the 7th and 16th of October, the film festival Films from the South Festival takes place in Oslo. It’s the 25th year in a row that the festival runs, which purpose is to open up for cultural exchange.
The festivalen Films from the South took place the first time in 1991. During the festival, the best movies from the year is presented, but it’s only movies from Asia, Africa, Latin America and Middle East. Approximately 90 movies are screened at a few movie theatres in central Oslo. The film festival has become one of the most important bits in Oslo’s culture scene. By showing movies from different cultures, arranging seminars and bring international artists, the cultural exchange is huge.
