Aqvavit, salmon, brown cheese – can you feel your tastebuds watering? Yes? That’s the idea! On our Taste of Oslo Food Tour, we’ll satiate your tastebuds in search of some Norwegian flavours alongside some city sightseeing.
The story about the tour
What do you think about when you think of Norwegian food? Salmon? Aqvavit? Reindeer? These are just a few items that make up the palate of flavours on the Norwegian table. To find out more, join us on our Taste of Oslo Food Tour to not only learn more about, but also experience and taste some typical Norwegian flavours while walking through the capital, Oslo.
Meet your guide at the Freia chocolate store on Karl Johans gate, the main pedestrian shopping street of the city. Nearby to the Grand Hotel and other famous city sites, hear about the city’s fascinating history, stories and culinary culture as you walk between some of the major sights of Oslo city centre.
Pull up a chair and sit down, it’s time to taste some traditional Norwegian dishes like salmon, reindeer or meatballs paired with typical Norwegian vegetables. We will also throw in the tasty flavours of a Norwegian dessert topped with your choice of strawberry jam or brown cheese (or both!) alongside a delicious, warm cup of coffee (one of many we’re sure you’ll want to enjoy while you’re in Oslo). Why do we think you’ll sip on more than one cup of coffee during your visit to the Norwegian capital? It’s because Norwegians love their coffee!
Following your guide on a delightful walk continuing through the city centre, arrive at a popular food hall and visit venues enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. We won’t just visit the food hall, we’re also here for a tasting of locally produced cured meats and cheeses. All these flavours will definitely leave you feeling thirsty, so we’ll end the tour with some beer in a local bar, where your guide will be glad to share even more tips on where to eat and drink or what to do during your stay in Oslo.
Please note: The tasting includes salmon, reindeer, meatballs, vegetables, waffles with jam/brown cheese, coffee/tea, couple of types of cheeses and cured meats, three types of beers and akvavit). If you wish to purchase additional drinks, there will be opportunities on the tour.
Tour includes: Guide, Food & Beverage Tastings
