Stockholm & Skansen Open-Air Museum - Private Walking Tour

Hoping to see all of Sweden on your Stockholm trip? Sure thing! Visit Skansen, a miniature Sweden of the past, on our Stockholm & Skansen Open-Air Museum Private Walking Tour. Immerse yourself in the Swedes’ history, culture, and customs.

The story about the tour

All aboard! Step onto the tram and zoom out to the green oasis of Stockholm, the island of Djurgården. Sometimes nicknamed “the museum island,” there is plenty to do and see, as well as a stroll through the seemingly endless park space. Wait a minute! We haven’t seen the city yet! Before we head out to the quiet park, we’ll make our way through the city centre, past skyscrapers, recounting tales of a robbery and private townhouse mansion turned museum. Before you know it, we’re along the harbour side, and ship masts become visible in the distance.

Now it’s time to hop aboard the tram! Passing by the most exclusive housing street in the city centre, Strandvägen. Admire the beautiful palace-like buildings before we cross the bridge over the canal to the island of Djurgården. We’ll be greeted by The Nordic Museum, with its majestic spire reaching high into the sky for all to see… and you thought Strandvägen was impressive? The Nordic Museum will be the cherry on top of the already impressive architecture we enjoyed on the way to the island.

The tram comes to a halt, and in the distance, you see the big letters S-K-A-N-S-E-N, in red, inviting you to come and unlock treasures of the past. Can you imagine a miniature Sweden? That’s Skansen in a nutshell for you! Follow the smell of freshly baked cinnamon buns up the escalator and into the Town Quarter. Walking down the street of the 1800s, we take a right, past allotment huts, through the Market Square and onto the doorstep of Seglora Church from Skåne, or Scania (no, not the truck company). Ooh! We can’t forget the animals! See ducks, pigs, moose, and if you’re lucky, wolves and bears!

Get the best of both worlds at one of the most visited attractions in Stockholm, Skansen. As the world’s first open-air museum, they know how to impress, excite, intrigue, teach, preserve, and entertain, as they have been doing this for visitors for over 100 years.
